The church was inaugurated in the same year when Cardinal Cerejeira has created the respective parish, 1956. Built under the renovation of religious architecture, according to a plan by António Freitas Leal, the exterior of the church shows a bell tower detached from the main building of the church and, in the main façade, a tile panel by Manuel Cargaleiro; inside, the highlights are the suspended baldachin in the chancel, the marble sculpture of Saint Anthony and the bronze Crucifix, all by Lagoa Henriques.
