Description

The Church of Saint Bartholomew of Charneca shows the date of 1685, although it keeps important 16th Century elements, notably a Manueline wayside cross, two holy water fonts and some tombstones with Gothic inscriptions. The soberness of the frontage, of rural architectural design, contrasts with the interior of the church, where it is possible to see the coffered ceiling, tile panels from the end of the 16th Century in the nave and in the chancel, as well as the painting collection, notably paintings by the studio of Bento Coelho da Silveira.
