The main church of Carregado, a parish of Alenquer, was inaugurated in 1956, as it is stated in the inscription above the door: Anno Domini mcmlvi. The church is dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima. Prior to its inauguration, religious service was held in the chapel of Quinta da Condessa estate, ceded by the landlords for the service of the people. At that time, the patron of Carregado was Saint Sebastian, the patron of the estate’s chapel.
