Description

The current church was rebuilt in the 17th Century and went through renovation works after the 1755 earthquake. However, the parish dates further back to the 14th Century and is linked to the appearance of the image of Our Lady in the trunk of an olive tree; the image was kept in the church until 1700. The walls and the ceiling of the nave show marble-like paintings; the ceiling of the chancel shows ornamental painting; the two pulpits, the altarpieces of the side-aisle altars and of the chancel are homogeneous, gilded wood carving painted in white. The Baroque sacristy is also noteworthy.
